Hypolimnetic Aeration

General Environmental Systems offers the industry's only industrial grade hypolimnetic aeration system based on over twenty years international experience. Our HYPOLIM aerator provides oxygenation for deeper, thermally stratified lakes and reservoirs. Oxygen is supplied to the hypolimnion water and the critical sediment-water interface without disturbing stratification.

With hypolimnetic aeration, the HYPOLIM aerator releases compressed air, in the form of fine bubbles, into a central, vertical tube. The rising bubbles move large volumes of oxygen-deficient bottom water, using the airlift pump principal, while also transferring oxygen, under hydrostatic pressure, to the water. The outer tubes return the oxygenated water to or near the same temperature/density strata from which it was withdrawn.
