Customized Aeration Solutions

General Environmental Systems provides customized aeration solutions to increase oxygen levels in relatively shallow lakes or reservoirs, which are stratified to any degree or which experience anaerobic conditions in the winter months. We set up diffused aeration systems near the bottom of lakes or reservoirs, and the systems’ diffuser lines release compressed air through their holes. The rising bubbles transfer oxygen to the water and transport bottom water to the surface, where direct contact with the atmosphere and photosynthesis continues the oxygenation process. The circulatory pattern created by the water flow also discourages the growth of algae species that prefer calm water or require adequate sunlight to proliferate.
